WSCUC changed two major policies in 2025 — and your workflows need to reflect both
WSCUC made significant updates to both its Credit for Prior Learning policy and its Transfer Credit policies in 2025. These changes expand student access — but they also require institutions to update how they document and manage these processes. Campus Credit is already aligned with the updated requirements.
WSCUC's revised Credit for Prior Learning policy removes the previous 25% limit on CPL credits toward degrees and eliminates mandatory transcript notation requirements. The revision "streamlines CPL procedures while maintaining core standards." This gives institutions more flexibility — but also requires updated policies, criteria, and evaluation workflows to manage the expanded scope. Campus Credit's CPL module supports the full range of prior learning types with documented faculty oversight, regardless of credit volume.
In June 2025, WSCUC adopted two complementary credit mobility policies designed to reduce barriers for transfer students, improve credit recognition, and strengthen transfer pathways. These policies were developed in partnership with the Beyond Transfer Policy Advisory Board and reflect WSCUC's strategic focus on student mobility — with nearly 1.2 million students transferring in fall 2024 alone (a 4.4% increase). Institutions need documented, systematic transfer evaluation processes to demonstrate compliance with the updated policies. Before the Standards: two Core Commitments and five Core Competencies frame every review
WSCUC's framework rests on two Core Commitments that peer review teams evaluate throughout the entire accreditation process, and five Core Competencies that every institution must demonstrate its undergraduates achieve at graduation.
