Built by practitioners. For the people doing the real work.

Campus Credit was built by people who understand what it's like to manage hundreds of student pathways with too few staff, too many inboxes, and systems that don't talk to each other. We built the platform we wished we'd had.

Turn earned learning into recognized progress

At Campus Credit, our mission is straightforward: give colleges one system to run the complex lifecycle of academic workflows without the complicated steps. From intake and eligibility through approval, verification, reporting, and SIS integration — everyone sees the status and next step, in one place.

Most colleges don't struggle because their staff aren't working hard. They struggle because critical workflows live in PDFs, inboxes, and people's heads.

The result is less manual work, stronger compliance, and scalable pathways that help students move forward — while staff focus on teaching, advising, and access. Every module in Campus Credit follows the same clear, repeatable path: Intake → Eligibility → Approval → Assignment → Decision → Integration.

We designed it this way intentionally. When every workflow follows the same structure, your staff learns once and applies it everywhere — whether they're processing a CPL petition, an I-20 extension, or a dual enrollment roster.

Where we're headed.

To make higher education workflows more connected, accessible, and scalable for the institutions and students they serve.

Five principles that guide every product choice we make

Every feature we build, every workflow we design, and every integration we prioritize runs through the same five filters. These aren't aspirational values — they're the actual criteria we use to decide what gets built and what doesn't.

01
Build for repeatable institutional needs

We prioritize features and workflows when multiple customers demonstrate the same need and the solution can scale across institutions — not one-off requests.

02
Reduce manual work

Every feature should reduce keystrokes, duplicate data entry, unnecessary steps, or administrative burden for the customer. If it adds friction, it doesn't ship.

03
Improve equity, access, and student outcomes

Every feature should reduce keystrokes, duplicate data entry, unnecessary steps, or administrative burden for the customer. If it adds friction, it doesn't ship.

04
Strengthen the ecosystem

Every new workflow should connect to the broader Campus Credit platform and contribute to an end-to-end institutional experience — not exist as a standalone tool.

05
Solve the full workflow, not just one task

We design around the complete journey — from request to approval, tracking, reporting, and student outcome — not just the part that's easiest to build.

Every decision comes back to one question: does this make it easier for a student who has earned something to actually receive it?

From Scantron sheets to a statewide system — and beyond

Campus Credit's roots go back more than 24 years, to a problem that was costing California colleges thousands of hours a year and a teacher who decided to fix it herself.

2000s
A backlog no spreadsheet could solve

Victoria College was drowning in hand-processed articulation forms built on Scantron sheets — slow, error-prone, and impossible to scale. High school CTE instructors were waiting weeks for course equivalency decisions. Students were losing credit they had already earned.

2003
An educator builds the tool that didn't exist

Robin Grantham — an educator with no formal coding background — built a web-based system to digitize and manage articulation efficiently. Supported by grant funding, it worked. CATEMA became the platform that proved the concept: structured digital workflows could replace the chaos of paper-based enrollment processes at scale.

2015
A backlog no spreadsheet could solve

CATEMA grew into a statewide solution, helping colleges align high school CTE courses with college credit across California. By 2015, the platform had helped award hundreds of thousands of college credits — improving efficiency, equity, and access for students who might otherwise have lost credit they earned in high school.

2024
CATEMA becomes Campus Credit

After two decades of operation, the platform was rebranded as Campus Credit — reflecting a broader mission beyond articulation to cover the full spectrum of enrollment pathways. The platform was also significantly updated in 2024, gaining the ability to manage full articulation agreements end-to-end — from agreement creation and course mapping through instructor qualification tracking, approval routing, and audit-ready decision logs. The new name, new architecture, and modern platform brought the institutional trust of CATEMA into a system built for what higher education operations require today.

2025
Dual Enrollment and Credit for Prior Learning added

Campus Credit expanded beyond articulation to manage the full dual enrollment lifecycle and CPL petitions — from student intake and eligibility through faculty evaluation, approval routing, and direct credit posting to Banner and Colleague. Two of the most administratively complex workflows in higher education, now in one system.

2026
A backlog no spreadsheet could solve

Trusted for over 24 years. Expanded for what comes next.

When you work with Campus Credit, you're working with a platform that has been battle-tested in real institutional environments for two decades. CATEMA wasn't a startup experiment — it was a working system that colleges depended on. That history is baked into everything we build.

We design workflows, not just features

We don't design software around a feature checklist. We design it around how work actually happens on campus — shared responsibility, review cycles, documentation, and accountability across teams that don't always share the same tools or the same inbox.

Structured, not rigid

Every workflow has clear ownership, defined steps, and a required audit trail — but institutions can configure routing, eligibility rules, and approvals to match their own policies.

Visible to everyone who needs to know

Students see where their application stands. Staff see what's in their queue. Administrators see the full picture. Nobody has to send a status-check email.

Compliant by design, not by checklist

FERPA-aligned controls, role-based access, and a complete decision log on every request aren't add-ons — they're built into the architecture.

Integrated, not isolated

Campus Credit connects to Banner and Colleague through the Ellucian Ethos API — bidirectional sync, approved vendor status, no rip-and-replace.

Built for lean teams

One person often manages SEVIS compliance, dual enrollment coordination, and CPL review simultaneously. We build for that reality — not the ideal org chart.

Data that earns its place

Real-time dashboards, equity reporting, and state-ready data exports aren't afterthoughts. Every workflow generates structured data because what gets measured gets improved.

Access isn't a feature. It's the whole point.

Every decision we make about the platform comes back to one question: does this make it easier for a student who has earned something to actually receive it?

01

Belonging

Every student who has earned credit — through military service, work experience, a high school CTE class, or an industry certification — deserves a clear, dignified pathway to have that learning recognized. Not a workaround. A workflow.

02

Access

Administrative friction is a form of inequity. When a CPL petition gets lost in an inbox, a dual enrollment student can't get a status update, or an I-20 renewal falls through the cracks — the student pays the price, not the system. We fix the system.

03

Meeting Students Where They Are

Whether a student is on a high school campus, inside a correctional facility, returning from military service, or starting community college for the first time — Campus Credit is designed to meet them in their context, with a workflow built for where they are.

We believe the gap between what a student has earned and what gets posted to their transcript is an infrastructure problem — and infrastructure problems have infrastructure solutions.

A "day one" mindset on every iteration

Our commitment is straightforward: we continuously improve. We actively seek feedback from the institutions we serve and use operational data to guide how the platform evolves.

New workflows are already in development to expand what Campus Credit can support over time. In practice, we approach this work with a "day one" mindset — focused on solving real problems, reducing burden for staff, and widening access for students with every release.

Feedback drives the roadmap

We collect structured feedback from every institution we serve and surface patterns into prioritized development cycles

New workflows in active development

We're continuously expanding what the platform can support — informed by what institutions actually need, not what sells

Support that knows your institution

You're not handed off to a generic support queue. Your implementation team stays involved — and knows your workflows

Equity and access as design criteria

We track who is and isn't accessing early credit programs — and build tools that help institutions close those gaps intentionally
